FM4 Indiekiste presents Leap The Dark Habits Tour
LEAP is the new project from London-based troubadour Jack Balfour Scott. Formerly of acclaimed “boundary breaking indie-rock” outfit and Capitol Records signees The Mispers, who ended their run of success in 2018 after gaining a fanatic cult following from their electrifying and somewhat unpredictable live shows, with POPPED Music describing the artist as “the frontman that every singer wants to be”.
Born and raised between Edinburgh and Cape Town, as well as studying at music school in Brighton, Jack’s internationally diverse background has now bled into the music he creates with the band – an eclectic mix of rock n roll misfits…
On drums, the multi-instrumental bisexual-budhist sensation Hector Cottam. Having grown up together in Scotland, Jack and Hector formed an unbreakable bond from the age of four. Since their first gig, seeing BabyShambles at fourteen in Glasgow, many years of mischievous antics and musical escapades have ensued.
Slapping the bass guitar – Declan “BullsEye” Brown – forged in the fires of Johannesburg and battle hardened in the rock scene of Camden. He had a chance encounter with Jack at iconic music venue The Hawley Arms and they bonded over their fancy for cheap denim attire. Always delivering a rambunctious energy to the stage and massive riffs that shake you to the core. What’s not to love about Barefoot Brown?
Completing the musical equation was the introduction of a young, fair-haired Jedi in the form of Adam Mason. A deeply talented and classically trained guitarist that’s really helped bring the LEAP sound to life. Adam tasted the limelight dancing on various TV shows as a child and now, at just 22, he has already performed in front of thousands across Europe with various projects. The future is dazzlingly bright for this beardless young starlet.
2021 saw the real formation of LEAP, stepping up and out of the world of DIY releasing into a more ambitious, more refined sonic palette where they can comfortably compete with some of the biggest indie-rock acts around. Including single „Energies“ praised to be an „anthemic mosh pit starter”.
Darker and yet still extremely accessible, their 6 track debut EP “1 Million Pieces” (released 2022) is a thumping statement of intent. Undeniable chorus hooks laced with rock and roll induced extremes, Jack’s unique vocals take you on a journey through London’s twisted underbelly and his own struggles with mental health. Follow up singles Sick Sense, Show Me The Way You Love, Sleepwalker and Exit Signs have seen the band pass the 500k mark on spotify streams alone to add the extensive editorial support across DSPs, as well as support from Rolling Stone, MTV, Flux FM, Earmilk, its all indie, fame magazine, BBC Radio6, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio amongst many more.
Bringing together a mixture of indie grunge guitars, hard-hitting percussion and the odd sprinkle of electronica, LEAP looks to mark a new beginning for a band on the verge of making major waves.
With sold out shows across Europe (Vienna, Hamburg, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Basel) to add to their 5 London sell-outs to date, it’s the reaction to the band’s explosive live show that is driving a highly-engaged, ever-growing international fanbase.
